The Department of Economic Development and Tourism is working towards the transformation of the provincial tourism industry and opening up further
opportunities for black-owned tourism businesses to improve the quality of their product and service.
The department intends to provide limited financial support to twenty tourism enterprises, ten of them youth owned, in the 2019/20 financial year. This is
to achieve the following: (1) increase the number of employment opportunities created, (2) improve tourism infrastructure, (3) grow the number of tourist
arrivals, (4) extend duration of tourist stay, (5) increase volume of tourist spending, (6) improve the distribution of benefits of tourism to rural areas and to (7)
achieve radical economic transformation in the provincial tourism industry.
Applicants must note that the maximum amount to be applied for is R200 000 and all applicants will be subjected to a site evaluation to determine the
validity of information provided and reason for funding required.
