A librarian from the Sol Plaatje Municipality has won the prestigious National Librarian of the year award.


Ms Manda Hough, who is the Acting Manager at the Kimberley library received this award by the Library and Information Association of South Africa (Liasa) and Universal Knowledge Software on the 06th October 2022. She is currently managing 8 public libraries, including the Africana Research Library.

 Ms lahlu.jpgSimilarly Ms Lahlu Mabula who is the Special Programmes manager, dedicated 4 months of her time and energy planning, and coordinating the many different activities that took place into making the National Army week which took place from the 10th-14th October 2022 a total success.

She brought her bubbly personality to the table and allowed The municipality's participation in the joint programme with SA Army to serve as a beacon to showcase how we can achieve great success. She was awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Chief of army Lt General Lawrence Mbatha for a job well done.

The Municipal Manager, Mr Thapelo Matlala together with the Executive Management Team takes this opportunity to congratulate these two remarkable women on achieving amazing work done and for "flying the SPM flag high"
